‘Bacio’ is one of the most famous images. It inspired Fornasetti to coin the phrase ‘Tema e Variazoni ‘(‘Themes & Variations’). The face is that of opera singer Lina Cavalieri who is most frequently used as a template for more than 350 design variations. Fornasetti's Bacio is a hand-poured scented candle made of 100% vegetal wax and housed in a decorative ceramic jar with a lid. Features a long-lasting and clean burn for up to 60 hours.
The resulting scent ‘Otto’ (Eight) is a sophisticated and unique scent that transcends time, season, gender and borders. With ingredients that are of personal significance to Barnaba - Mediterranean herbs that were found in and around the family home, woods often utilised in interiors designs or pieces of furniture created by Fornasetti. Other more ethereal ingredients - such as incense - conjure a latent spirituality or sense of dreamscape that is often present in Fornasetti graphic poetry.
